Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four early chances in a tight third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
